Dolly Chawla Opens Up About Playing Meera in Tumm Se Tumm Tak
Actress Dolly Chawla shares her experience portraying Meera in Tumm Se Tumm Tak, calling it a challenging yet fulfilling role.
Actress Dolly Chawla, known for her versatile performances in television, has stepped into the shoes of Meera in Tumm Se Tumm Tak, a new show produced by Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah under Studio LSD. Talking about the role, Dolly expressed excitement and a sense of responsibility.
“When I got the call from the production house, I was thrilled,” she said. “Studio LSD feels like home to me. I’ve worked with them before, and their faith in me means a lot. When they briefed me about Meera’s character, I was immediately drawn to it. But I also felt the pressure, especially since the show already exists in seven languages.”
Tum Se Tum Tak explores a sensitive theme—an age-gap relationship between Arya and Anu. Dolly noted, “Age-gap relationships do happen in real life. Love isn’t about instant emotions; it evolves over time. That’s what this story captures beautifully.”
Describing Meera, Dolly shared, “She manages everything for Arya—his office, his schedule, even his food and medicines. She’s possessive and doesn’t appreciate others getting close to him, especially now that Anu is in the picture. She’s bossy and listens only to Arya.”
Dolly, who has portrayed negative roles in traditional soaps, emphasized how different Meera is. “I’ve played negative roles before, but Meera is not the typical ‘villain.’ She’s layered, strong, and deeply loyal. That makes her complex and interesting.”
She admitted that such roles come with their challenges, which she welcomes. “The more complex a character is, the more fulfilling it is to play. Meera is nothing like me in real life, and that’s what makes this exciting. It takes time to get into her mindset, but I love every bit of it.”
Dolly also appreciates the viewer reactions, even the negative ones. “People message me saying they hate Meera, and I take that as a compliment. It means I’m doing justice to the role. I remember during my first show, Thapki, I got hate messages too. My producer told me that’s a good sign—it shows people are engaged.”
Working with Studio LSD is a comfort zone for Dolly. “This is my third show with Prateek sir and Parth sir. They treat me like family and trust me with challenging characters. It’s empowering to have that level of support from your producers.”
She also shares a close bond with her castmates. “Sharad is a sweetheart, and Nasirr ji is like a mentor—so generous with his advice. Niharika is like a younger sister to me. Despite the age gap, we have a great rapport. We genuinely enjoy working together.”
Dolly concludes by expressing her gratitude. “I feel like I’m getting brownie points—doing what I love, with people who support and challenge me in the best ways. Tumm Se Tumm Tak is a beautiful journey, and I’m proud to be part of it.”
