Hyderabad, Telangana – July 14, 2025:
In a landmark moment for Telangana’s administrative landscape, Smt. Hari Chandana IAS, a 2010 batch officer of the Telangana cadre, assumed charge as the District Collector of Hyderabad on June 13. Her appointment, under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy, marks a historic milestone—she is the first Dalit woman to serve in this prestigious position.
Known for her dynamic and community-focused governance, Hari Chandana’s elevation is a symbol of social justice and representative leadership. Her previous tenure as Collector of Narayanpet and Nalgonda districts showcased her commitment to innovation, women empowerment, and sustainability. Widely referred to as an "Eco Warrior," she introduced pioneering projects like India’s first pet park and Mobile She Toilets, and spearheaded waste-to-resource initiatives.
She gained recognition during her years at GHMC, where she led major urban infrastructure reforms. During the COVID-19 pandemic, her leadership empowered thousands through mask-making and organic farming initiatives. With digital health ventures like T-Consult and artisan support through "Aarunya," Hari Chandana exemplifies the modern civil servant—efficient, inclusive, and transformational.
Her appointment aligns with CM Revanth Reddy’s broader administrative reforms and focus on equitable opportunity. It is both a recognition of merit and a message of empowerment for marginalized communities. Her tenure is anticipated to bring Hyderabad into a new era of participatory, progressive governance.
